Sanctuary is just that. A peaceful pocket of Irish country land wrapped snugly around a beautiful Georgian home. The land is a bio diverse haven for wildlife; alive with woodland, stream, meadow and organic gardens. Does this resonate with you. If so, come join us at Sanctuary. Three days of digging, planting and learning under the brilliant eye of our on-site horticulturist.

James Haughey is Sanctuary’s horticulturist who encourages a mindful approach to gardening. We invite you to join James in the walled gardens for gentle work, walks and conversation.

There is always something to do, and helpful hands are always welcome.

As Ireland is a land of many weathers please bring appropriate clothes and footwear.

Enjoy the flexibility of self catering at the Caretakers cottage, dig by day at Sanctuary, exploring the medieval city of Kilkenny by night.

Sanctuary is situated on the former Kilfane Demesne estate in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland. It comprises of two main properties Kilfane House, a fully restored historic Georgian home (circa 1705 – 1798) and a smaller period property the Caretakers Cottage which is situated behind Kilfane House.
